Manufacturing technology and application of PET beer packaging
one of the main technical difficulties of PET beer bottles is the barrier performance of PET bottles, which not only reduces the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between beer bottles and the outside air, but also ensures the stability of complex flavor substances in beer. Since the late 1990s, PET bottle manufacturing technology has made breakthrough progress. n bsp; In recent years, the production of PET bottles in China has developed rapidly and is widely used in various food manufacturing industries, such as tea drinks, fruit juices, condiments, cola, Baijiu, etc. At present, the application of PET bottles in the beer industry has become a hot spot for beer enterprises and PET bottle manufacturers. Beer is a kind of food that is very sensitive to external environmental factors, and the requirements for packaging materials are very high. Therefore, the use of PET bottles in large quantities in the beer industry lags far behind the above industries. However, with the improvement of the manufacturing technology of PET bottles for beer packaging, the performance of PET bottles to meet beer packaging is gradually improved. Progress in PET beer bottle manufacturing technology polyester materials have high permeability to oxygen. PET beer bottles mainly consider the permeability and adsorption of oxygen, as well as the loss of carbon dioxide. In addition, when PET bottles are applied to beer, we should also consider the problem of temperature and pressure resistance. Foreign researchers have made fruitful improvements to these key problems, starting with improving the barrier performance of PET bottles. They can be summarized in four aspects: high barrier single-layer material technology, multi-layer material used to lift the experimental machine technology, inner coating technology and outer coating technology. Single layer material technology single layer material technology includes the following four situations: (1) single layer pet. This form is the simplest and the lowest cost, but its gas barrier performance is also the worst. Pet has been mixed with other substances to improve barrier properties, such as nylon or vinyl alcohol. (2) Single layer pen. Pen is the English abbreviation of polyethylene benzoate. Due to its high permeability to oxygen and poor temperature resistance, pet can only be used for beer filling under certain conditions. Pen bottles have good toughness and temperature resistance, and can be pasteurized at a temperature of up to 95 ℃. Therefore, pen bottles can be used as recycling bottles. The barrier property of pen bottle is 10-20 times higher than that of pet, and the shelf life can reach more than three months. However, the high price of pen has caused great obstacles to its wider promotion in the beer industry. At present, some companies are committed to mixing pet and pen to improve the performance price ratio of this kind of bottle. (3)PET+LCPs。 LCP is a liquid crystal polymer, which can significantly improve the barrier performance, but LCPs are opaque, that is, the bottle is opaque, so the bottle inspection machine cannot be used. At present, people are studying transparent LCPs. (4) Nano plastic. This kind of material is to treat "montmorillonite" into nano soil by nanotechnology, and then add nano soil to polyester material in proportion, which can produce nano plastic with high strength, high heat resistance and good gas barrier performance. Although this kind of plastic has not yet fully met the requirements of packaging beer, and it is still far from industrialization, the rapid development of nanotechnology is enough to make this material have a very broad prospect in this field. Multi layer material technology multi layer material technology is to add polymer with barrier formed by coating into the bottle. Generally, multi-layer bottles have three layers. From a technical point of view, it is also feasible to make nine layer bottles. However, multi-layer bottles bring trouble to mechanical movement and recycling, so they are generally not suitable for recycling bottles. At present, domestic enterprises in China produce three-layer bottles, which can not only withstand the temperature of pasteurization, but also meet the needs of a certain storage time. Internal coating technology internal coating technology uses hydrogen and oxygen electrolysis to coat a thin carbon layer on the inside of PET bottles. Its advantage is that the permeability is reduced by about 81% and the appearance of the bottles is bright and beautiful. However, as it is an internal coating, other substances should be considered to dissolve in food and affect the flavor and taste of food. France Sidel introduced the ACTIS (amorphous carbon treatment on the inner wall surface) process in the improvement of the barrier performance of PET beer bottles. This process is to conduct hydrogenated amorphous carbon treatment on the inner wall surface of standard single-layer PET bottles, so as to produce a very thin partition layer on the inner wall of the bottles. Although this coating is on the inner wall and in direct contact with beer, which may cause consumers' concerns, this technology has been certified by FDA and TNO. This kind of bottle can be 100% recycled, with low oxygen isolation and volatility. Its performance is 30 times higher than that of traditional single-layer PET beer bottles, and its resistance to carbon dioxide loss is 7 times higher. External coating technology the external coating is to add a carbon dioxide barrier layer to the barrier layer to deal with PET bottles. It does not directly contact with food, so it will not change the characteristics of beer. However, because the external coating is on the outside, it is easy to be worn, thus affecting the appearance of bottles. Glaskin technology developed by TetraPak company is an external coating technology. PET bottles are treated with an extremely thin amorphous carbon layer. This layer is like glass, with extremely high mechanical strength. Thus, damage during transportation can be prevented. This thin glaskin coating is very flexible and can withstand mechanical deformation. Its shape is the same as that of ordinary PET bottles. Nano-SiO2 is gas-phase SiO2, which is matched with the existing recovery system. Apart from making great progress in barrier technology, PET bottles have also made great breakthroughs in thermal sterilization technology. For a long time, PET bottles are generally limited to filling draft beer or pure draft beer, but at present, a large plastic bottle enterprise in China has successfully developed PET bottles that can withstand sterilization temperature, which greatly broadens the application range of PET bottles. The application of PET bottles in beer industry PET bottles have been widely used in international beer enterprises, and the bottles used also have their own characteristics. In the 1980s, ordinary PET beer bottles appeared in Japan. At that time, they were mainly used for small banquets, with a specification of 1-3 liters. However, due to the problem of oxygen isolation, they were eliminated within 4 or 5 years after they were launched. In the late 1990s, a variety of new materials and processes for blocking and improving heat resistance, including pet multilayer composite technology with barrier layer, pet surface coating technology, pet co mixed Metallization Technology and the development of high barrier pen materials, have made great progress. The physical and chemical properties, such as high temperature pasteurization test, oxygen resistance, sealing performance, vertical pressure and filling pressure, basically meet the needs of beer packaging. In 2001, as Carlsberg and other international beer groups used PET bottles to fill beer, PET beer bottles began to be widely used in Europe and America. In the United States alone, there were 300million plastic beer containers in that year. In high beer consumption countries such as Britain and Germany, PET bottled beer accounted for more than 10% of the market share. South Korea has the highest adoption rate of plastic beer bottles, with a market share of 40%. From 2001 to 2005, PET bottles attracted widespread attention in the international beer industry. PET bottle manufacturers in China have mainly invested in the research and development and market promotion of PET beer bottles. Domestic beer enterprises began to try PET bottle filling beer, and some have been listed in batches. China's beer production in 2005 reached 30.6156 million kiloliters. Based on 30 million kiloliters, if 10% of beer is filled with PET beer bottles, the market demand for 500ml PET bottles will reach 6billion! The development trend of PET beer bottles in China at present, PET bottles are not new to China's beer industry, but due to various factors, PET bottles have not been widely promoted in the beer industry. However, in the next two to three years, PET bottles will inevitably account for a certain proportion of beer packaging. T bottle will become a new packaging form besides glass bottles and cans. Consider the following factors: first, due to the characteristics of beer itself, beer packaging is always dominated by glass bottles, and the proportion of cans is not large. PET bottles have the characteristics of light weight and flexible form, providing a new choice for beer enterprises; Secondly, the per capita consumption of beer in China is 23.4 liters/person/year, while the international average is 24.3 liters/person/year. With the development of China's national economy, the beer industry still has a large space for development; In addition, the innovation of packaging forms has become an important means for liquor enterprises to carry out product innovation, and PET bottles will inevitably become the focus of new product development of beer enterprises. Therefore, PET bottles will become a new packaging form besides glass bottles and cans. T bottle blowing and filling line production technology will be developed. The bottle blowing machine and wine filling machine are used for online production to reduce the cost of bottle washing and transportation. After connecting, the PET bottles produced by the bottle blowing machine are directly sent to the beer filling line for filling through the air conveying line, so that the bottle blowing, bottle feeding and filling can be completed at one go. Compared with the use of traditional glass bottles, the intermediate links such as transportation and bottle loading are reduced, and the production efficiency such as the inner surface of the cylinder, the main journal of the precision machine tool, the main journal of the coordinate boring machine is high, and the sanitation is more guaranteed. This technology will be developed and applied in enterprises that use PET bottles. 3. Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will become a good opportunity for the promotion of PET beer bottles. Seize the opportunity of the 2008 Olympic Games and do a good job in market planning and marketing. When applying PET beer bottles, Chinese beer enterprises should look to the 2008 Olympic Games, seize this rare market opportunity, and develop new beer products suitable for large gatherings and sports venues. In terms of meeting the technical requirements of filling and storage, the conditions for PET bottles to be used in beer filling have been basically met. The application of PET bottles in China's beer industry will enrich the packaging forms of beer, expand the consumption market of beer, and further promote the development of China's beer industry
